The Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation
is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, established in New York City and celebrating its thirty-first year of extending the dream, dance, and indomitable spirit of Isadora Duncan.

It is the mission of the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation to:

  • Maintain the legacy of American modern dance pioneer Isadora Duncan, through performances and residencies;
  • Archive her works as priceless jewels of modern dance;
  • Create new choreography through Lori Belilove & The Isadora Duncan Dance Company;
  • Reach future generations of dancers via educational outreach programs, designed for implementation in underserved communities, that develop cultural appreciation, confidence, and encourage self-expression.

Lori Belilove & The Isadora Duncan Dance Company has a repertoire of over seventy original Isadora Duncan dances, and contemporary choreographies by Artistic Director Lori Belilove, who, through her direct lineage and prestigious performing career, has earned an international reputation as the premier interpreter and ambassador of the dance of Isadora Duncan. The Company has annual NYC home seasons, including performances at the Duke Theatre on 42nd Street, Symphony Space, and Ailey Citigroup Theater. The Company is pleased to participate in free public NYC performance events, offering programs at the Donnell Library Center, the New York and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, the Brooklyn Public Library branches, and the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. IDDC tours nationally and internationally, recently appearing in Florida, Chicago, North Carolina, Iowa, California, Italy, and Russia.

We are also proud to offer an extensive range of community outreach programs. Together with the Creative Center for Women with Cancer, New York, and the Mayo Clinic, Florida, we present workshops using the Duncan technique, focusing on healing through the power of Isadora’s gesture and movement. We also deliver therapeutic programs for NYC senior citizens, St. Margaret’s House residents, and St. Vincent’s Medical Practice health-care workers. With the Greater NY Girl Scouts and the Jewish Community Center New York, we have developed and presented programs encouraging physical activity while instilling self-confidence and promoting appreciation for the arts. IDDF maintains an active school with classes for children and adults, two ten-day intensive workshops annually, teacher training, basic and advanced certification programs, national residencies, and Arts-in-Education residencies in NYC public schools.
