On Saturday, August 23rd at 1:30pm EDT, Lori Belilove will present "Deliberate or Spontaneous? Isadora Duncan’s Dance Unpacked" on Zoom for Historical Dance at Play: Which Way to Parnassus?, a series of historical dance workshops hosted by The New York Baroque Dance Co. As they put it:
"Isadora’s legacy is surrounded in mystery and strange myths. Did she dance in the nude? Did she have any 'technique?' Did her work survive her unusual death? In this presentation, Belilove will lead the participants on a journey of discovery, exploring the basic principles and philosophy underpinning Duncan's dances and learning short phrases from her original repertoire."

Belilove’s one-hour workshop (followed by a short Q&A) will explore the Art of Isadora through a few different choreographies to illustrate her aesthetic and choices in her dance expressions, including: “Water Study”with music by Schubert; Dances with Greek themes that evoke Isadora’s bas-relief lines and oppositional curves to music by Gluck. Teaching tools will include quotes from Duncan, archival photos, drawings, and rare video. Come to the Zoom prepared to move, watch, breathe...and to absorb the thinking behind her innovative ideas.
